Important enough I've never used Fram.

Looks like there's a Fram employee in that thread though...hehe

Fram is not even the necessarily cheapest either. Cardboard end caps; not even once.

Not saying that Fram isn't shit. But he does have a bit of a point. It would be interesting to see an actual test, or at least oil analysis of identical engines run in similar conditions for similar hours with Fram v. Other Filter and see what the results look like.

I would find that quite interesting. I'm sure the data is out there. There is probably no discernible difference between any filter

When is the last time you failed an oil filter? I have run Fram in a lot of stuff. Including a turbo V6 running out to 7200 rpm on a regular basis. Never had a problem. Your failure point is likely going to the gasket anyway. I don't worry about it and the grip stuff on the filter is useful in tight engine bays, which is why i typically buy them.

I've never had a filter fail on me. I don't use Fram. Coincidence? Maybe.

Neither have I, and I have been using Fram on stuff for 20 years. I also use Motorcraft and they haven't had any issues either.

I'm sure they are all rigorously tested and they are fine to use. I'm glad you're passionate about Fram. Frankly I'm surprised at the people that have advocated Fram. To me, the design is highly suspect and I'd rather use something without cardboard end caps. What do the end caps do? I don't even have a clue.

I don't even really care about Fram that much, but they are relatively cheap and they sponsor motorsports. So why not? The grip paint is typically buy them.

My dad has used Fram oil filters in his lt1 Impala for over 250,000 miles with absolutely no motor work.

I've done a huge amount of research and originally stayed away from Fram, but after finding that out I generally don't care about brand preference any more.
